Mexican Snacks Wholesale in Santa Maria
Snacks are one of the fastest-moving categories in a small store, and one of the easiest to get wrong. The problem is almost never the brand. It's the sizes you pick and how many cases you bring in at once.
What moves first
Classic chips and chile-dusted (enchiladas) chips sell to two different customers, and they rarely cannibalize each other. Someone who came in for the spicy bag doesn't grab a plain one as a backup, and the reverse is just as true. Carry one and you leave half the sales on the table.
Inside each line, the established flavors turn quickly and new flavors sit. Keep the known ones stocked and test anything new in small quantities.
Single-serve or family size
Single-serve bags are impulse buys — they go out with the soda and get restocked constantly. Family size is a planned purchase: fewer transactions, more margin per sale.
A neighborhood store usually lives on single-serve, and it dominates even more if you're near a school or a job site. Family size earns its shelf space when your customers are buying to take home.
How much to bring in
The working rule: buy what you sell in two weeks, not two months. Ordering more often costs less than sitting on stock.
Count what's left before every order. Rotate older stock to the front so it sells first. And if something hasn't moved in a month, don't reorder it — that shelf space is worth more to a product that turns.
The brands customers ask for by name
Nobody walks in asking for "a bag of chips." They ask for Sabritas. They ask for Frito Lay. They ask by name because they grew up with them.
That's why it pays to stock the brand your customer already came in looking for, rather than the cheaper alternative. A bag sitting on the shelf has no discount that saves it.
